  1. TRAINING OBJECTIVES

1.1. General objectives

The applied of Master research in Aquaculture training program helps students to improve their professional knowledge and operational skills; Students have the ability to work independently, apply research results, develop and organize the implementation of production processes in aquaculture. Learners can learn some additional basic knowledge of the industry and major according to the requirements of the doctoral training major to continue participating in the doctoral training program.

1.2.  Specific objecties

After graduating the applied of Master research in  aquaculture programme, students be able to apply in-depth knowledge of aquaculture, and issues related to farming techniques, seed production techniques, and techniques. In addition, students can apply the skills and knowledge gained to synthesize, analyze and evaluate specialized problems of the field of Aquaculture.

  • Objective 1: Ability to analyze and evaluate natural science, socio-political knowledge, professional issues and related data to detect, research and solve requirements in work and life.
  • Objective 2: Applying knowledge to management, cooperation, consulting and technology and technical transfer related to aquaculture in the country and internationally.
  • Objective 3: Having the ability to analyze quantitatively, qualitatively and predict the current status and trends in aquaculture in the country and in the world, The leanner are possible to have a comprehensive assessment of the problem and offer some solutions.
  1. STANDARD OF OUTPUT

Completing the applied of Master research in  aquaculture programme; The learners have the following knowledge, skills and qualities:

2.1.  Knowledge

2.1.1. General knowledges (The main duty of general subjects block received level M)

  • CĐR1: Applying the philosophical theoretical basis of the Vietnam revolutionary way, especially the development strategy of Vietnam’s science and technology to apply philosophical knowledge in real life, forging practice worldview, methodology in perceiving and studying objects in the field of natural science and technology.

2.1.2. Specific knowledges (The main duty of basic, majors, specific practical experience,  subject block and thesis report received level M)

  • CĐR2: Analyzing of survey and research data in the field of fisheries to serve the planning, calculation and design of works, equipment, construction of farms, designed of farming ponds, laboratory in aquaculture.
  • CĐR3: Designed a research program on advanced technologies of breeding, feed, and health management of aquatic animals, high-tech farming model developed towards sustainability, food safety and hygiene, in sustainable with actual conditions.
  • CĐR4: Apply professional knowledge to seed production, rearing using feed care, environmental management and aquatic animal health and quality of aquatic products to ensure the organization and management of aquatic animals, operate aquaculture systems in aquaculture farms effectively.

  • CĐR5: Applying critical and creative thinking to effectively solve problems from the reality of production in the fisheries sector, creating new solutions, new methods, and new technologies in the fisheries sector.
  • CĐR6: Work as a team to achieve the set goals as a member or leader.
  • CĐR7: Communicating effectively in multi-cultural and multi-media; Proficiently use information technology (IT) and modern equipment for research and production of aquatic products; meet English standards as prescribed by the Ministry of Education and Training.

2.2.2. Specific skill (The main duty of basic, maijors, specific practical experience, training subjects and thesis report received level M of specific field)

  • CĐR8: Proficiently perform operations in seed production, feed production, rearing, care, environmental management and aquatic animal health.



  • CĐR9: Scientific research to successfully solve problems in the fisheries sector, serve aquatic production activities, and improve productivity and production efficiency in the fisheries sector.
  • CĐR10: Implement consulting activities and transfer techniques for seed production, feed production, aquaculture animal rearing, aquatic animal health management, business organization and management in related fields to high efficiency aquaculture products.

  • CĐR11: Complying with regulations and laws to meet professional ethical standards, demonstrating responsibility as a responsible citizen for professional conclusions.
  • CĐR12: Implement responsibility to protect the environment, natural resources, improve human health and show animal welfare.
  • CĐR13: Clear future orientation, promote leadership capacity, collective intelligen to solve problems posed in the fisheries sector, entrepreneurial spirit and a sense of long life learning and responsibility for development of society.

 3. CAREER ORIENTATION

  • Learners after graduating with a master’s degree in applied aquaculture are able to take on the management and administration of production and business: technicians, researchers, extension officers, managers and marketing staff.
  • State management agencies: Agencies and units under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, relevant ministries; Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, Division of Agriculture, Agricultural Extension Centers in the provinces and districts… Agricultural extension stations and related ministries, departments and agencies.
  • Enterprises in aquaculture, aqua feed production, production and processing of aquatic products: state, foreign, joint venture, private.
  • Research institutes: Aquaculture Research Institute, Institute of Agricultural Science, Institute of Oceanography, Institute of Genetics…
  • Education and training institutions: Universities, colleges, high schools, vocational training…

  • Other institutions related to training majors.

4. ADVANCED LEARNING ORIENTATION 

After graduating from the applied of Master research in aquaculture, students can participate in doctoral programs or other specialized courses related to Fisheries; Veterinary Medicine; Animal  Science and Breeding.

5.1.  Objective of  educate

The staff are currenly working at schools, institutes, stations, research camps in the field of fisheries, officials of the State management agency in charge of fisheries. Officials and employees working in companies dealing in seafood products. Individuals who have a need to know about the Fisheries industry.

Brief description of the courses

 

  1. BTS7001. Research methodology for aquaculture (2 Credits: 2 – 0 – 6). Scientific research in aquaculture, Quantitative and qualitative research methods and research processes, the use of biostatistics in aquaculture research, sampling methods and experimental design, outline, write scientific papers and publish research results.
  2. BTS7002. Environment management in Aquaculture (2 CREDITS: 2 – 0 – 6). Water environment management such as management of physical, chemical and biological factors in the aquatic environment; Causes of environmental pollution in aquaculture and environmental management measures; Measures for water treatment in aquaculture; Research and test a number of drugs and chemicals applied in water quality management for aquaculture.
  3. NTS7003. Aplication of genetical technology in aquaculture (2 CREDITS: 2 – 0 – 6). Genetic basis and selection of aquatic breeds. Principles and foundations of technology for selecting and breeding aquatic products and applications. Principles and basis of modern genetic technology in selection and breeding of aquatic products and their application
  4. DTS7001. Feed production technology in aquaculture (2 CREDITS: 2 – 0 – 6). Nutrient requirements for aquatic animals, feed ingredients, feed processing technologies, feed standards and regulations, feed quality assessment, research methods in feed nutrition, feed management, feed for some typical aquatic animals.
  5. DTS7005. Coastal ecosytem management (2 CREDITS: 2 – 0 – 6). Assess the current status, trends and roles of coastal ecosystems/ecosystems including estuaries, tidal flats, lagoons, mangroves, corals, seagrasses, and human life. Thereby analyzing management policy options such as integrated coastal zone management, co-management, ecosystem-based management approach, model of public-private relationship to manage systems/regions. ecosystems and their rational use in aquaculture.
  6. NTS7001. Aquatic ecology (2 CREDITS: 2 – 0 – 6). Some key ecological factors in water bodies; Groups of aquatic organisms and their habitats; The living and functional activities of aquatic organisms; Biological life in populations, communities and ecosystems; Energy conversion and productivity in water bodies. Climate change and sustainable development of the fisheries sector.
  7. NTS7002. Aquatic animal physiology (2 CREDITS: 2 – 0 – 6). The general physiological processes of aquatic organisms in terms of respiration, nutrition – digestion – metabolism, growth and reproduction… Adaptation changes of animals in different environmental conditions. The ability to regulate and direct physiological processes through food, environmental management and the use of artificial products and preparations.
  8. DTS7002. Fisheries resource management and development (2 CREDITS: 2 – 0 – 6). Concepts of biodiversity and its role in biological and human life; Methods of assessing the situation of exploitation and use of aquatic resources in recent years; Methods and principles for analyzing aquatic resources and conditions for the development of inland fisheries in our country; Methods and principles for analyzing aquatic resources and conditions for marine fisheries development; Assessment of major challenges to the development of our country’s fisheries; Strategic orientations for the sustainable development of our country’s fisheries.
  9. NTS7004. Aquaculture system (2 CREDITS: 2 – 0 – 6). Overview of food and aquaculture trends in the world and in Vietnam; Semi-intensive pond aquaculture system; Aquaculture system in intensive pond; Super-intensive pond aquaculture system; Cold water aquaculture system; Aquaculture system in ponds; Circulating culture system; Aquaculture system in cages on lakes, ponds, streams and in the sea
  10. NTS7008. Reproductive Endocrinology and application in aquaculture (2 CREDITS: 2 – 0 – 6). Overview of reproductive biology of aquatic species; Endocrine organs, endocrine glands, endocrine hormones related to reproduction of aquatic animals; Influencing factors and development of gonads of aquatic species; Artificial reproduction and the use of hormones in artificial reproduction of aquatic animals; Technology of haCreditshing eggs, rearing and using hormones to control aquatic sex.
  11. NTS7011. Aquaculture Construction & Equipments (2 CREDITS: 2 – 0 – 6). Works and equipment in the hareditshery of aquatic animals; Structures and equipment in shrimp farms; Structures and equipment in fish farms in ponds and cages; Works and equipment in establishments producing drugs, chemicals and microbial products used in aquaculture.
  12. NTS7007. Marine Fish Reproduction and Aquaculture. (2 CREDITS: 2 – 0 – 6). In-depth, up-to-date knowledge on reproductive biology of new and potential cultured species. Reproduction processes, growth and development of eggs, larvae, common problems and solutions to improve the efficiency of marine fish seed production. Advanced commercial farming systems (high technology) in Vietnam, in the world and development trends of marine aquaculture.
  13. NTS7005. Crustacean Reproduction and Culture Technology (2 CREDITS: 2 – 0 – 6). Whiteleg shrimp seed production technology, Black tiger shrimp seed production technology, Sea crab seed production technology, copefloc shrimp farming technology, biofloc shrimp farming technology, RAS shrimp farming technology, IMTA shrimp farming technology, Crab farming technology.
  14. NTS7006. Mollusk Reproduction and Culture Technology (2 CREDITS: 2 – 0 – 6). Algae farming technology, Breeding technology and bivalve mollusc rearing, Abalone seed production and rearing technology, Sea cucumber breeding and rearing technology, Molluscs post-harvest handling technology
  15. DTS7003. Technology of harvesting and preserving seafood products (2 CREDITS: 2 – 0 – 6). Quality characteristics and quality changes of aquatic raw materials, methods of quality control of aquatic products, basic principles of aquatic preservation technologies, harvesting and preservation technologies preservation such as: fresh, MAP, cold, frozen, dried, preservative… Technological process of preserving and processing some typical seafood products.
  16. BTS7004. Aquatic Animal Epidemiology (2 CREDITS: 2 – 0 – 6). The concept of epidemiology; Terminology and measurement parameters of epidemiology, epidemiology of some common and dangerous aquatic diseases in aquatic animals; Epidemiological research methods: descriptive epidemiology; experimental epidemiology; Analytical epidemiology, sampling methods and epidemiological analysis, application of epidemiology in the prevention of some dangerous infectious diseases in aquatic animals.
  17. NTS7009. Aquaculture planning (2 CREDITS: 2 – 0 – 6). Overview and principles in planning and planning. Basic tasks and general principles in planning, decentralization of planning management. Solutions and integration of environmental, social and livelihood issues into each step of the aquaculture planning process.
  18. BTS7005. Environment assessment in aquaculture (2 CREDITS: 2 – 0 – 6).   20. BTS7006. Advanced Fish Immunology (2 CREDITS: 2 – 0 – 6). Introduction to immunity in animals, immunity of aquatic animals, Immune system in fish, crustaceans; Immune response in wildlife; Immune allergy due to aquatic products; Application of immunostimulants; Research, testing and application of vaccines; Application of immunological techniques in the diagnosis of aquatic animal diseases, Some new studies on immunity in aquatic animals
  21. BTS7007. Advanded Applied Microbiology in Aquaculture (2 CREDITS: 2 – 0 – 6). General characteristics of microorganisms in soil and water environments; The role of microorganisms in aquatic animal health; The relationship of microorganisms with other organisms in an ecosystem; Microorganisms causing diseases on aquatic animals (Bacteria, viruses, fungi); Microorganisms causing spoilage of aquatic products and seafood; Methods of intensive diagnosis of diseases caused by microorganisms; Applications of microbiology in the rearing and prevention of zoonoses
  22. BTS7010. Applied biotechnology in aquaculture (2 CREDITS: 2 – 0 – 6). The achievements of biotechnology in aquaculture, genetic technology, microbiological technology, technology of breeding disease resistant varieties, biotechnology in improving the quality of breeds, feeds and aquatic products, environmental management technology; biotechnology in the diagnosis and management of aquatic animal health.
  23. NTS7012. Advance Aquaculture (2 CREDITS: 2 – 0 – 6). Advanced knowledge about high-tech farming systems such as RAS recirculating system, high-yield offshore cage culture (>1000 tons/cage)… Application of automation technology, AI technology, technology nano, … in aquaculture management and farming. Digitization and its application in aquaculture management. Problems and risks in the development of high-tech farming and solutions.
  24. NTS7013. Livefeed Production Technique (2 CREDITS : 2 – 0 – 6). Overview of fresh foods in aquaculture, Algae culture techniques, Rotary culture techniques, copepod farming techniques, Artemia culture techniques, Artemia resting egg hatching techniques, Food enrichment techniques eat fresh.
  25. BTS7008. Advanced Aquatic Animal Parasitology (2 CREDITS: 2 – 0 – 6). The common parasite species on aquatic animals today; Diseases caused by internal and external parasites; Methods of diagnosing diseases caused by parasites in the TS; Updated drugs and chemicals in the treatment of parasites; Some parasite diseases are emerging and causing damage in wildlife.
  26. BTS7009. Advanced Infectious Diseases in Aquatic Animals (2 CREDITS: 2 – 0 – 6). The concept of infectious diseases in aquatic animals, methods of integrated prevention of infectious diseases, advanced diagnostic methods of infectious diseases, common, dangerous and emerging infectious diseases in aquatic animals, prevention techniques and treatment of infectious diseases, application of diagnostic techniques and use of drugs to prevent and treat some common infectious diseases in wildlife.
  27. DTS7004. Seaweed technology of culture and processing (2 CREDITS: 2 – 0 – 6). Introduction of seaweed and their role. Principle and technology basis of growing and processing seaweed group. Principles and technological bases for growing and processing seaweeds. Principles and technological bases for growing and processing food seaweeds.
  28. NTS7010. Seed quality and Broodstock management (2 CREDITS: 2 – 0 – 6). Current status of seed quality, evaluation criteria and development trend of seed quality; External factors and technical processes affecting the quality of seed: the process of rearing and maintaining the brood stock, the process of rearing for spawning, the process of artificial reproduction, the management process of hatching and nursing. raising and transporting fry, fry and fingerlings;
  29. BTS7003. Advanced aquatic animal health management (3 CREDITS: 3 – 0 – 9). Concept and scientific basis of aquatic animal health management. Integrated disease prevention measures in aquaculture (Management of seed quality, management of farming areas, environmental management, management of feed and waste, management of drugs, chemicals used, disease management) . Modern diagnostic methods in aquatic animal health management. Applying knowledge to build management models for some emerging diseases in aquatic animals.
  30. PTN7010. Advanced Program and Project Management (2 CREDITS: 2 – 0 – 6). Overview of program and project management (Concept, role, characteristics, content.); Feasibility study and appraisal of programs and projects; Organizing and coordinating the implementation of programs and projects (Developing plans and organizing implementation); Monitor and evaluate the program/project. PRA’s toolkit supports project construction and management.
  31. STN7003. Climate Change and Environment (3 CREDITS: 2 – 0 – 9): This module includes (1) Introduction to climate and climate change; (2) Current and past manifestations of climate change; (3) Climate change forecast; (4) Impact of climate change on the environment and production areas and human life; (5) Climate change adaptation and mitigation solutions; (6) Analysis of local climate change trends; (7) Assessment of vulnerability to climate change; (8) Proposing solutions to mitigate climate change using En-Roads software; and (9) Inventory of greenhouse gases in agricultural production and daily life.
  32. TPD7001. Advanced food processing technology (2 CREDITS: 2-0-4). General overview of non-thermal processing in food technology. Technology that combines many factors/barriers for food preservation, Food processing without heat, Food processing with direct and emission heat; Raw material management, product storage and distribution.
  33. NTS7901. Master thesis section 1 (6 CREDITS).
